Nick Fletcher formed Nixer Ltd in 2000 due to the numerous requests he received for product design work, and started to design products from the ground up for many companies. Some were just simple PCB layouts, while others were complete products - including schematic design, PCBs, metalwork and firmware.

This is when Philip joined the company, bringing his many talents at writing software to the table. Having now designed so many products for other people (which they still do) they decided to develop and manufacture a range of products under the “Nixer Pro Audio” brand.

RL64 Dante

1U 19” Rack Mount Dante Monitoring Tool and Mixer

The RL64 Dante is a 1U 19inch rack mounting 64 channel Dante monitoring tool which can also mix up to 64 Dante channels, 2 AES channels (XLR) and 1 Mic (headphone jack) into a 2 channel stereo mix. This can be listened to via the in built speakers or headphone amplifier. Additionally this output can also sent to the stereo Balanced Line Output (2x XLR), AES EBU Output (XLR) output and back onto the Dante network. Operation is via the easy to use LCD capacitive touch display which displays the main stereo output and up to 16 Dante channels at once on large and clear meters.

RD Dante

Rack Mount Dante Network Confidence Monitoring and Diagnostics Tool

A 2U 19inch rack mounted Dante monitoring and diagnostic unit, which allows the monitoring of up to 64 Dante channels at 48kHz (32 channels at 96kHz). The signals are presented to the user via the inbuilt 75mm full range speakers which are mounted in optimised ported cabinets for a high quality sound or the via the 6.35mm headphone jack. The speakers are automatically muted when a headphone jack is inserted. Simultaneous outputs are also available in the form of the stereo balanced line outputs and AES output accessed via XLR connectors on the rear of the RD Dante.

PD Dante

Portable Dante Network Diagnostics Tool and Audio Monitoring

A small portable Dante unit, which allows the monitoring of up to 64 Dante channels at 48kHz (32 channels at 96kHz). The signals are presented to the user via the inbuilt speakers or the headphone jack. The speakers are automatically muted when a headphone jack is inserted. Simultaneous outputs are also available in the form of the stereo balanced line outputs and AES output accessed via the 15way D-type.

The speakers and headphones have independent settings for volume, the unit recalling the last used setting for each when changing between speakers and headphones.

PLR64 Dante

64 Channel Dante Network Monitor for Use with Remote Controller

Specifically designed to allow an operator/commentator to access any two independently selectable sources on the Dante network via a simple remote control panel. Each display shows Channel Name and provides an output meter level. Balanced XLR outputs provide feeds to local speakers or headphones - perfect for on-air and live applications where critical confidence monitoring is essential.

The kit consists of three parts: the PLR64 Dante, 2 gang Wall Plate Remote Controller and 1.5M D-Sub remote cable. It does not include a PSU as standard, but one can be purchased at extra cost.

The PLR64 would normally be mounted to a wall or beneath a desk and then wired via the remote cable to the 2 gang wall plate remote controller. The remote controller allows the independent selection for each output from the incoming Dante stream. Each output displays the selected Dante channel name and output signal level on the OLED display. Channel selection is made via scrolling up/down the available Dante channels via a pair of switches for each output.

Each output is presented on a 3 pin male XLR. The signal is electronically balanced and provides +21dBu for 0dBFS of signal level.

Firmware updates of the PLR64 Dante are achieved via a dedicated USB micro B connector on the end panel. There is also a dedicated 3.5mm jack socket for the headphone output.
